Handmade in Ireland
Born from a passion of creating alternative therapies and utilising natural resources, I established my family run business in 2015.
Having grown up in my native County Antrim where homeopathy, craftwork, and care for the environment were encouraged, I developed a keen interest in aromatherapy. From creating essential oils and producing lotions for friends and family, I moved on to candle making.
Through my exploration into candle making I found there was an ever increasing demand for a product I had already been tailoring; one that found the balance between complementary therapy and my approach to organic resourcing.
Sustainability
I firmly believe in the sustainability of our ecosystem and feel it important that this ethic is reflected through my work. By using wax from the soya bean, along with natural essential oil fragrance, we have been able to produce candles which are free of pesticide, herbicide, paraffin and other pollutants.
This environmentally friendly process has proved hugely beneficial as our candles are cleaner burning and less likely to cause allergies. Soya wax burns cooler meaning you can enjoy your candle for 30-50% longer.
Our Name
O’Cathain is the Gaelic translation of our family name, O’Kane - an ancient clan rich in history and strength. We look forward to providing you with resilient candles, full of character and longevity.
